Branding & Website For Hug Away Hate

Building a brand from the ground up is always a journey, but this project was especially meaningful. The client came to me with a simple yet powerful idea: share messages of hope through t-shirts.

I brought that vision to life by creating the logo, designing and building the website, and writing web copy that reflected her mission of spreading encouragement, kindness, and hope through her nonprofit.

Tennesseans are a beautiful mix of folks. We are all humans living this life with different economic conditions, families, partners, genders, self-expressions, races, ethnicities, physical impairments, mental health challenges, medical conditions, belief systems, education levels, and life stories.

Bringing Vision To Life

At the start of the project, the client had a t-shirt design and a passion for spreading hope, but needed clarity around her brand direction. I curated imagery and copy to capture her vision, built a wireframe to align with her goals, and developed a branding board that visually reflected her mission and ensured consistency across the project.

Discovering Name & Logo Design

The project began as UpliftTN.org, centered on stories of Tennesseans uplifting one another, with plans to grow nationwide. As the vision evolved, the name Hug Away Hate was chosen to represent unity on a broader scale.

Through multiple logo sketch rounds and color explorations, we refined the concept into a colorful yet simple final logo. One that the client felt was both approachable and a powerful statement.

Music Connection

I developed a wireframe that used music as an emotional connector, recognizing its universal ability to unite people. Inspired by Prince’s words, “We are all gathered here today to get through this thing called life,” the design naturally reinforced the brand’s core values of unity, hope, and support by creating an emotional connection with the audience.

Every detail in the design and web copy was crafted to capture the client’s caring spirit and her dedication to helping others. We transformed an idea into a tangible brand, providing the foundation for a mission that reaches out to those who need hope. What started as a modest vision of positivity became a full-fledged mission, a foundation for an organization grounded in compassion. Her kindness became the heart of the brand, creating not just a line of shirts but a community united by hope.

Let's Build a Home For Your Business!

I choose projects that inspire growth and create real-world impact, and this one was especially meaningful. Helping launch this brand was uplifting because of its ability to share hope through simple, human moments. It reminds us that even small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference

I approach brand-building like creating a home: the website is the foundation where the brand lives, content brings warmth and personality, and audience engagement is what makes people feel welcome and connected.
