Branding & Website For Hug Away Hate

Building a brand from the ground up is always a journey, but this particular project was truly inspiring. The client, a deeply compassionate and driven individual came to me with nothing more than an idea: to share messages of hope through simple t-shirts. Her mission was clear from the start. She wanted to lift people up, creating a ripple effect of kindness, encouragement, and support for anyone who needed it.

I built the brand from the ground up, creating the logo, designing and constructing the website, and crafting web copy that reflected the client’s compassionate mission of spreading hope through her non-profit.

Tennesseans are a beautiful mix of folks. We are all humans living this life with different economic conditions, families, partners, genders, self-expressions, races, ethnicities, physical impairments, mental health challenges, medical conditions, belief systems, education levels, and life stories.

Bringing Vision To Life

At the project's outset, the client had a t-shirt design and a passion for spreading messages of hope but was unsure of her brand's direction. I gathered images and copy to capture her vision, then built a wireframe to ensure alignment with her goals.

To further refine the brand’s identity, I created a branding board that matched her mission statement, providing a visual guide to ensure consistency across all elements of the project.

Every detail in the design and web copy was crafted to capture the client’s caring spirit and her dedication to helping others. We transformed an idea into a tangible brand, providing the foundation for a mission that reaches out to those who need hope. What started as a modest vision of positivity became a full-fledged mission, a foundation for an organization grounded in compassion. Her kindness became the heart of the brand, creating not just a line of shirts but a community united by hope.

Discovering Name & Logo Design

Her initial idea was to name the site UpliftTN.org, focusing on sharing stories of Tennesseans uplifting each other, with plans to expand nationwide. Ultimately, the name “Hug Away Hate” was chosen to emphasize unity everywhere.

We went through sketch rounds of logo design, starting with "Uplift TN" and experimenting with different colors and graphics. As the name and concept evolved during our collaboration, she ultimately loved the colorful yet simple finalized logo, remarking that it was not only simple but also a powerful statement.

Let's Build a Home For Your Business!

I aim to take on projects that inspire me to grow as a person and make a positive impact in the world. Helping launch this business was uplifting because of its potential to touch lives with a simple message of hope. You never know when a handshake, a smile, or a hug can change someone’s day—or even their life, and this project reminded me of the profound power of small acts of kindness.

Building your website and brand is like constructing the house; it’s where your brand lives online. Creating blogs, videos, and posts is like furnishing and decorating the house, making your brand inviting and engaging. Interacting with your audience online is like hosting guests, making them feel welcome and at home.

Music Connection

I drafted a wireframe centered around using music to evoke emotion, recognizing that music is a universal connection point for people from all walks of life. Prince’s words, “We are all gathered here today to get through this thing called life,” resonated deeply with me because they reflect both the challenges and shared experiences we all face.

Prince's message of togetherness and perseverance felt like the perfect foundation to reinforce the brand’s core values of unity, hope, and support. It felt natural to weave this sentiment into the design, creating an emotional link between the brand and its audience.
